Fulfilling its objectives of growing in membership and consolidating its position as a representative of fresh fruit exports from the southern hemisphere, SHAFFE announced the incorporation of a new organization: Provid Peru.
“We are very pleased to be adding more and more associations and countries to our association. We recently added Zimbabwe and now we are welcoming Provid, the Peruvian Table Grape Growers Association. This shows that the work we have done to date is important and representative,” said Nelli Hajdu, Secretary General of SHAFFE.
Charif Christian Carvajal, SHAFFE President and representative of ASOEX, , said the incorporation was announced by Provid, during a meeting with SHAFFE. “We participated in a board meeting of AGAP, the Association of Peruvian Agricultural Producers’ Guilds, where we explained the work that SHAFFE is leading in the southern hemisphere as a member of the Global Coalition of Fresh Produce Trade Associations, especially because in Peru, as well as in other countries in the southern hemisphere, there is great concern about the rising costs of logistics and supplies, whose effects are very negative for the survival of the fresh produce industry globally and food supply”, added.
“During this meeting, Provid, a trade association that is part of AGAP, expressed its desire to join SHAFFE, which we welcomed positively and with great pleasure, because growing in number of members and positioning is what we have been promoting under this administration, as we know that when issues are addressed jointly it is easier to reach solutions that benefit the industry as a whole”, expressed SHAFFE President.
